Crazy car door
As I left the house this morning I was just planning on getting gas, a cup of coffee and going onto church. As I went outside to get into the car, I found I had to open the door with both hands yanking on it. I just attributed this to the cold weather. Boy, was I wrong. Later at the gas station when I was done, I attempted to close the door but it kept popping open. I ended up having to drive straight home, unfortunately skipping church, while driving with one hand and holding the door closed with the other.
I wasn’t surprised since my car door never acted right. Many times I would open the door and, unlike normal cars, when you push the door open enough, it will remain open as you climb out. Not this one. No matter how far open the door was, I would climb out, having the door slam back on me, with me kicking it back open in order to avoid being banged up and/or spilling things out of my hands. This action apparently took its toll on the door. My car is very old and falling apart.
Displaced
You might be wondering why I’m talking about my car. A few months ago the house that my husband and I rented an apartment in, sold and all the occupants, including us, had to leave. We became homeless. Not only was it a nightmare moving, with the movers ending up costing us double what we expected, but they never even finished the job, with us having to finish it on our own. It took a whole month to move, with everything ending up in storage and with much more being thrown out. It ended with my husband and I living separately with family and friends due to no place being able to take us together with our cat staying at a third place. Our financial woes grew.
Budget stretched to the snapping point
When the incident with the car door happened, it was a reminder that I was in serious need of a newer car. We also needed funds to move. This made me very frustrated with the constant problem of living paycheck to paycheck, just scraping by and never having enough to fulfill our needs. I knew things needed to change and I needed to initiate this change. Don’t get me wrong. Money doesn’t mean everything to me. I just wanted to live comfortably without constant struggles.
A few days before this, I was encouraged to start blogging. Since I’m known to be an encourager, love helping people and have a love for writing, I jumped at the opportunity. I was tired of living what felt like being in a serious financial oppression.
Crying out to be lifted from the oppression
I few weeks ago, my pastor preached a sermon entitled “Rising up out of Oppression”. Sometimes, God allows oppression in our lives. We have the ability to rise out of oppression with the Lord’s help. My pastor brought up some good points concerning this. One being, “Learn to call on the name of the Lord.” We can use prayer, praise and songs, all of which moves God. In Exodus 3: 7-9, it talks about when the Israelites were oppressed by the Egyptians how their cry to the Lord brought a promise from Him to be brought to the promised land for a better life, which He later gave to them with their continued trust in Him.
I had nothing to fear on being stuck in poverty for the rest of my life. I knew that I was in God’s hands and He promised he would never leave me nor forsake me. Hebrews 13:5. And I also stood on His promise in Malachi 3:10 which I partake in.
Opportunity arises
But you might ask, how can you make money blogging? It has to do with being an affiliate and having affiliate links attached to your blogs. Have you ever noticed when your reading an article online that there are ads throughout the article? Those could be affiliate links. If someone is reading your blog and clicks on one of those links and completes a certain action, you could get paid. There is more to it than that, but that’s the just of it. I wanted to know how that all worked. So I took a course that thought me how to make sense of it all. Of course, I then became an affiliate of them. Click here
Throughout the course, there were times I did not understand something. What I found to be an invaluable tool, was a Facebook page that came along with the course. Whenever I read something that, due to my lack of expertise, I posed the question there and I got answers that were a tremendous help along the way. This is still all new to me, but it’s very exciting. This has become a very positive option in my life, while enjoying writing.
